The traditional New Years Day Criterium on the Gold Coast has been run and won, and this year victory has gone to recent European signing, Jack Anderson (Ride Oz), who will be doing his future racing with Magnus Backstedt's Team Sprocket Pro Cycling.
The 2010 edition of the Elite Men's race was again run as the Daniel Bennett Memorial Criterium with Anderson the third rider joining the Honour Board along with Matthew Hayman (2008) and Mike Jackson (2009).
Unfortunately, the main international stars were away this year getting ready for the Jayco Bay Cycling Classic, but there were still some serious contenders in the main peleton.
Anderson, who is a product of Hit Racing, is one of Queensland's rising stars, and demonstrated his class at Nerang by edging out former mountainbiker, Mark Frendo, and Mitchell Mulhearn.
Gold Coast Goldstar's stalwart, Jackson Wardrop, finished fourth.
The Club would really like to thank ALL the volunteers who helped out on the day. Their efforts contributed to making this event one of our most successful.
